Science 101
Learning never ends, which is why Science 101 is ensuring the sciences are accessible to those without the resources to attend college or university. Support this unique and life-changing program by donating to the Science 101 Fund on Giving Day.
Every summer Science 101 offers a free, four-month introductory science course to adults who historically have not been able to pursue post-secondary education. Most students are from Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside and other inner-city communities. They are introduced to a breadth of science topics, including physics, astronomy, and biology. Through lectures, tutorials, and field trips led by UBC faculty and graduate students, participants not only gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for science, but also develop the skills and confidence to advance their education.
“Science 101 was a thoroughly empowering experience,” says a Science 101 alumna. “It opened my eyes to new avenues of possibilities that I had not previously considered.” Donate today and help Science 101 bring the transformative power of science education to more people.
