Steven Lewis Point Award in Law for Indigenous Students
Every gift to the Steven Lewis Point Award in Law for Indigenous Students eases financial stress for future Indigenous lawyers, helping them focus on their studies and more fully experience everything law school has to offer.
This new award was established in honour of the distinguished career and remarkable contributions of The Honourable Steven Lewis Point O.B.C., a double UBC alum and the University’s first Indigenous Chancellor. Awarded annually, it will provide financial assistance to second- and third-year J.D. students at the Peter A. Allard School of Law who are First Nations, Inuit or Métis of Canada.
By actively removing financial barriers, the award recognizes the potential of Indigenous law students and the promise their future holds, while highlighting the Honourable Steven Point’s strong ties to UBC and his legacy as a leader, scholar and advocate for Indigenous peoples’ human rights.
