Giving Day donors invested in the future of Indigenous youth, while helping to preserve Indigenous culture and heritage, by giving generously in support of the Native Youth Program at the Museum of Anthropology. Each year this program provides a training and work experience opportunity for up to eight Indigenous secondary students to explore their identity through art and culture and to learn about MOA, UBC and its programs.
To accommodate the MOA’s temporary closure for seismic upgrades, the 2023 cohort worked with MOA’s community partner, the Museum of Vancouver. Students led daily guided tours of the Museum of Vancouver’s innovative That Which Sustains Us exhibition, examining local-area people’s interactions with forests and their natural environment.
Donor support has helped continue this transformative program – over 200 Indigenous students have participated over the past four decades, many going on to pursue post-secondary education. Find out more about the MOA Native Youth Program here.
