Inspiring local-to-global connections

Opportunities to learn outside of the classroom are incredibly valuable—and one of UBC’s top priorities. The Office of Regional and International Community Engagement (ORICE) aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and society. Giving Day donors helped fund ORICE’s Experiential Education Accessibility Award, which helps students who identify as part of historically, persistently or systematically marginalized groups gain access to these opportunities.

Funds from ORICE’s Experiential Education Accessibility Award are utilized for programs like our Scholars-at-Risk / Scholars-in-Prison engagementship in which students conduct real world advocacy on behalf of scholars imprisoned for their academic work.
