When is UBC Giving Day?
UBC Giving Day is on Thursday, April 3, 2025.
How can I get involved?
You can get involved by giving to what moves you most, sharing messages to support your favourite causes and amplifying your impact through challenges that unlock additional funds for chosen causes. You can also experience the thrill of watching the Giving Day total being updated in real-time on our website!
Visit UBC’s Vancouver or Okanagan campuses on April 3 and join our Scavenger Hunt and Giving Day Celebration. It's a day filled with games, prizes and giveaways—you won’t want to miss it!
Can I choose where my donation goes?
Yes! You can direct your donation to the fund, faculty, project or cause that matters most to you. Visit the Giving Day website to choose from over 85 important initiatives being featured this year.
What if the fund I want to support isn’t listed on the Giving Day website?
If you’d like to give to a specific UBC fund that isn’t featured on the Giving Day website, you can use the General Giving Day Donation Form, which is linked on the site. Gifts made through this form will still count toward our UBC Giving Day total.
What makes my donation on UBC Giving Day special?
On April 3, your contribution can make an even bigger impact, thanks to UBC’s generous donors and partners. Through matching and challenge funds, your gift could receive an additional boost, unlocking even more support for your favourite cause, project or program!
When did Giving Days start at UBC?
UBC held its first-ever university-wide Giving Day in 2021, and it has now become an annual tradition at the university.
What difference can one day really make?
A lot! Giving Day is about the power of many. Through our donors’ generosity, matching funds and challenges, we can create an impact far greater than any individual could alone!

Giving Day Challenges are special opportunities to amplify the impact of your donation. These challenges are designed to inspire more giving on April 3 by unlocking additional funds when specific goals are met.
Which gifts count toward challenges?
Gifts made through the Giving Day website on April 3 will count toward challenge goals.
How are challenge funds allocated to Giving Day causes?

Making a Gift
How can I make a gift to UBC Giving Day?
- Donate online at https://givingday.ubc.ca/
- Call us at 1-877-717-GIVE between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm PST
- Mail a donation
- Complete the Printable Gift Form
- Make your cheque payable to the University of British Columbia
- Mail to:

*To ensure your cheque counts toward the UBC Giving Day goal, please send it in advance of April 3.
Is it safe to give online?
Yes, UBC uses a secure payment processing system.
Is there a minimum donation amount?
No, every gift on UBC Giving Day will receive a tax receipt in accordance with the rules of the Canada Revenue Agency.
Can I make more than one donation on Giving Day?
Yes! We welcome multiple donations on Giving Day. Feel free to support as many causes as you're passionate about. However, please note that for the purposes of Giving Day challenges, only one gift per donor per cause will be counted.
Can I make a donation before April 3?
Yes! All gifts before April 3 will count towards our UBC Giving Day total. Just keep in mind that only gifts made through the website on April 3 count toward Giving Day challenges. Check out the UBC Giving Day challenges page here for more information.
Will I get a tax receipt?
Donors will be issued official receipts in accordance with the rules of the Canada Revenue Agency. The “Cardholder Name” field will be used on the tax receipt and must match the billing details you provide. If there is a discrepancy, you may not be able to claim your tax receipt. If you are making a monthly gift, you will receive your first month’s tax receipt upon donation. A consolidated tax receipt for the remaining months will be emailed to you in February.
What will you do with my information?
Your information is collected under the authority of section 26(c) of the British Columbia Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. UBC will use this information to process your gift, maintain contact and keep you up to date with university information, events and fundraising. We will not disclose your identity and contact information unless you authorize us to do so. UBC does not sell, rent or trade donor lists.
